Seam and Seal

Optimize Your Home’s Weather Resistance Capability...

By implementing Covalence Seam & Seal Construction tape as part of the wall envelope’s secondary line of defense against exterior moisture protection. Covalence Seam and Seal Tape is a thin, strong, white polypropylene film coated with a cold weather acrylic adhesive system. This system is specially formulated to have excellent performance characteristics at sub-freezing temperatures along with good quick stickability for ease in applying.

Seam & Seal Tape can be used to repair rips, punctures or tears in the sheathing or housewrap material. This tape can be applied to corners, joints, sill plates, etc., to improve air tightness. When applied over the seams of the installed housewrap, Seam & Seal Construction Tape is another component that contributes towards a secondary line of defense against exterior moisture penetration of the wall envelope. By using Seam and Seal Construction Tape, this should result in continuity and assist in creating an effective drainage plane.

Provide Added Protection...

against energy robbing air infiltration and maximize energy efficiency by sealing the gaps, cracks and crevices where air can easily penetrate the home and ultimately affect your heating and cooling costs.

  • Door Flanges / Frames
  • Patching job site damage caused to fragile wall sheathings such as foam and fiberboard
  • Sealing holes and gaps in the exterior wall around faucets, dryer vents, electrical outlets and more
  • Exterior Wall Sheathing Joints
  • Housewrap Seams / Overlaps
  • Window Flanges / Frames

Please Note: Covalence strongly recommends the additional use of an approved flashing material (one that meets or exceeds Fed. Spec. UU-B-790a Grade A and is a minimum 6" in width) around windows and doors. Seam and Seal Construction Tape by itself, should not be used as a flashing material and when it is not used in conjunction with an approved flashing material, may compromise the wall system’s ability to effectively resist exterior moisture penetration.
